Summer School Courses
Our lessons are designed to help you to improve your confidence in spoken English as well as to develop your grammar, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary skills. This is done by using fun and communicative activities in themed weeks and also with lessons linked to your excursions.
On your first morning, you will be given a language test. This includes a grammar and vocabulary test, a piece of writing (you choose which question you would like to answer) and a short speaking test with one of the teachers. After this, you will be put into a language class that matches your English level. Your progress will be checked weekly with a short progress test. Our maximum class size is 12 students. At the end of the course you will receive a report and a course certificate. You will also be able to take all your coursework home with you in a folder.
The lessons also provide a preparation for the Trinity College, London Graded Examination in Spoken English (GESE) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Students who choose GESE will sit the speaking exam on their final Friday. Students who choose IELTS have the choice to sit the exam on a number of dates during the Summer..
The English Plus Activities course is designed for students who want to improve their English and have a holiday. Students take part in activities including - Rock Climbing, Raft Building, Sports, Group Competitions and Games. We want students to mix with other nationalities and use their English. Students are split into mixed nationality activity groups to encourage communication in English.

Instead they attend three hours of additional study each afternoon except for Wednesday when they join the rest of the students on a half day excursion. The course is designed around a weekly topic and includes classroom lessons, educational visits, guest speakers and practical educational activities.
